Paragraphs Bookstore continues a tradition of a downtown bookstore that began in Mount Vernon in the nineteenth century. In a time of big-box stores and e-readers, Paragraphs is an independent, neighborhood bookstore, a place with real books, real people, and real conversations, and a reminder that the turning of a page will always take us where we wish to go.

Monday – Friday: 9:30am – 6:00pm

Saturday: 9:30am – 5:00pm

I taught language arts and social studies for thirty years. In 2003, I began working at Paragraphs Bookstore where I follow my love of reading non-fiction, fantasy, historical and young-adult fiction.

The best part of this job is when customers walk into the store, say, “I loved. . . (their last great read),” and I can suggest several books which I know they will enjoy. Or maybe the best part of the job is getting the perfect book into the hands of a young reader. Or is it talking to other book lovers about reading? Too many choices…
